“Notes from MSMA teleconference with our state health commissioner”

Dear friends:
According to our local department of health, as of tonight (Mon 3/23/20 at 5 pm):

  • there are 20 cases of COVID-19 in Boone County.  One individual with travel-associated COVID-19 has passed away, and the other 19 are under observation.
  • *including* Boone County, there are a total of 183 cases of COVID-19 in Missouri.  Three have died (this includes the death in Boone County), 1 has fully recovered, and the other 179 are under observation.

In case any of you are interested, below are some of my notes from the MSMA COVID-19 teleconference with our Missouri DHHS commissioner (Dr. Randall Williams) on Saturday morning (3/21).  Apologies for any typos or errors.

I found most of what he had to say, to be very reassuring.  Please feel free to forward this e-mail (but judiciously, and not to the press!).

Also, I found some of the more helpful/accurate websites on COVID-19 to include:  <health.mo.gov>, <www.msma.org>, <www.ama-assn.org>, and the Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard at <https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html>.

Stay safe and well, and also panic-free!
